About Thuy

My name is Thuy Pham and I am so pleased you are here. My work as a life coach has not been a linear path, nor a path that can be directly chronicled through succinct decisions. It has grown out of my own growing awareness of the disconnect between how I was living in the outer world and what my inner sense and wisdom were quietly asking of me, particularly when moments of injustice became more resonant within my experiences and understanding. This journeying has been shaped, in part, by my experience as a refugee from the Vietnam War – an experience that profoundly influenced how I came to understand loss, adaptation, resilience, and the lasting imprint of traumatic events on our lives.

In order to belong, I learned ways of reacting to the world that subtly demand that I limit who I was and curb how fully I could show up in life. This realization drew me to turn inward with an intense curiosity and longing to understand the behaviors I had adopted, the values I believed to be true, and the relational influences of my present, past, and ancestry.

Through my work with restorative justice, yoga, somatic attunement, and trauma healing, I have slowly developed a more intimate connection within myself, listening and trusting my own wisdom as a guide to meet what this moment in life is asking of me to be. This includes the vulnerable aspects of my experiences that can now be life-giving.

My Lived experience

  • My early career experiences were quite traditional and included 15 years of cross-sector and multicultural experiences spanning education, public health, and human development in Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean. With over a decade managing large-scale initiatives with entities such as Room to Read, BBC Media Action, and the United States government, I felt an inner tension that recognized that while the work I was doing was ‘good,’ it wasn’t what my place of work was to be. A couple of major shifts happened in my life when my husband and I visited Rwanda in 2018 and I learned more about the country’s history and their commitment towards peace through Restorative Justice practices. Along with the pain of recognizing racialized trauma with the murder of George Floyd, I recognized that these experiences were pathing a way for my learning to be uprooted and expanded into new elements of understanding the depths of our human experiences.

  • Engaging deeper with a new understanding of my life allowed me to work towards a more aligned career path, supporting individuals and communities through my work of individual coaching; holding community groups for restorative justice circles, somatic awareness and attunement, resourcing groups; and teaching yoga.

As a certified Integral Development Coach, my coaching moves beyond the issue that clients initially come to me with. I have also trained with Thomas Hubl, known for his healing work in individual, ancestral, and collective trauma, in learning, practicing, and experiencing ways in which trauma healing can take place within relational connection and somatic awareness. This has helped to deepen my personal and professional workings with individuals and group facilitations. By weaving in elements of somatic sensing, body movements, and relational witnessing, I bring synthesis to coaching and facilitation work that skillfully supports personal and collective transformation.

Guided by a deep commitment to learning, I have completed numerous professional trainings, certificate programs, and academic studies that integrate theory and lived experience, bridging psychological insight with embodied practice. Through my experiences, I hope to encourage a reflective depth within others to contribute to their own human flourishing.
